About the Breed....
The Miniature Australian Sheperd is alot like its larger counterpart, but are compact in size ranging from 14 inches to 18 inches in height. Very intelligent, bold and beautiful all wrapped up into one. Being a true born and bred "working dog", they are energetic and eager to work, very clever and are well suited for active households, agility, herding and other performance events. Like many working breeds, the Aussie has considerable energy and drive and usually needs a job to do. They are extremely talented dogs and love to show off there intelligent's and what they have learned.
History....
The history of the Miniature Australian Shepherd is the same as that of the Australian Shepherd until approximately the 1960's. Thereafter, fanciers formed member clubs and registries to promote the dog as a separate breed.

Registries....
The Miniature Australian Shepherd has been recognized as a separate breed by the American Rare Breed Association (ARBA) and the National Stock Dog Registry (NSDR). Dogs that are registered with the Miniature Australian Shepherd Club of America (MASCA), North American Miniature Australian Shepherd Club of the USA (NAMASCUSA), and NSDR may be registered with the United Kennel Club (UKC) as Australian Shepherds only. The UKC does not recognize the Miniature Australian Shepherd breed or a size variety of the Australian Shepherd.
